The Funding Readiness Map

Five questions to answer before pursuing another grant.

Funding readiness is less about enthusiasm and more about credibility. Strong pursuit begins with aligned programs, organized records, defensible budgets, clear outcomes, and leadership capacity to deliver.

1. Is the organization eligible and in good standing?

Confirm status, registrations, governance, geography, and applicant restrictions before investing in an application.

2. Is the program clear and fundable?

Define the participants, need, activities, outcomes, evidence, budget, and sustainability in language others can evaluate.

3. Are the core documents organized?

Build a reusable master grant file containing organizational information, board records, budgets, narratives, policies, and attachments.

4. Does the opportunity truly fit?

Compare mission, program, geography, award size, restrictions, timing, competition, and capacity—not just the headline amount.

5. Can the organization deliver and report?

A responsible funding strategy considers implementation, data, financial controls, reporting, staffing, and leadership ownership before the award.

The best grant opportunity is not the largest one. It is the strongest fit between the funder’s priorities and an organization prepared to deliver.
